About Sirshree

Sirshree’s search started young and moved through many schools of thought and many practices of meditation. None of them settled it. The wanting became strong enough that he gave up his teaching job to pursue it without a timetable, and after a long period of contemplation the search ended in what he describes as the attainment of the ultimate Truth.

His conclusion was not that the existing paths were wrong, but that something had been left out of all of them: understanding. Truth, being paradoxical by nature, had been compressed and interpreted ambiguously for so long that people were inheriting conclusions instead of seeing for themselves. Hence the sentence everything else rests on: everything is a game of beliefs, and understanding is the whole thing.

To pass this on he devised Tej Gyan, a sequenced system that takes a person from self-help to self-realization rather than leaving them to assemble the route themselves. Tej Gyan Foundation was founded in 1999 to carry it, with Happy Thoughts as its motto: thoughts of self-realization, and the ones that clear out everything else.

More than 450 books, translated into over twenty languages. More than 4,000 discourses, on truth and on the practical business of living, including several that set out the core tenets of different religions side by side. On that he is direct: “Mankind does not need a new religion; what it needs is the thread of understanding that can bind all religions together.”

What people notice first is the register. Subtle material arrives in casual, contemporary language, wrapped in analogies, parables and jokes that leave you thinking about them the following week.
